Fresco workshop (1 cr), 26 Sep – 3 Oct
The new workshop introduces you to the basics of fresco painting giving you the chance to paint a real fresco on a plaster surface.

Sound art
Study Module in Sound Art (15 cr) consists of four courses that are completed within one academic year, giving you a diverse understanding and experience of the basics of sound art. You also have the option of completing individual courses, such as the thematic art course Art & Activism in the Urban Soundscape, which is available at the end of the year.

Basics of jazz improvisation and theory (6 cr), 10 Sep, 2026 – 29 April, 2027
Learn to read and write chord symbols and to identify the most common types of scale and structure used in jazz pieces, and grasp the melodic language of jazz improvisation.

Performing arts and writing
In Clownery I, you will get to know the basic techniques of clowning, while in the course focusing on the Dances to a beat method, you will delve into improvisation, rhythm and choreography that is created in the moment.

Working life studies
On the Autumn 2026 working life courses, you will be able to develop your skills in a variety of ways. The program includes several free courses such as Introduction to Artificial Intelligence and Creative Practice (3 op) that you can complete remotely or flexibly at your own pace.

The application period for the Autumn 2026 courses at the Uniarts Helsinki’s Open University is August 4, at 9:00 – August 20, at 23:59.
You may apply for courses during the application period in our course calender.
Open University study fees are generally €30/credit. For independently studied online courses and study modules of 15 credits or more, the study fee is €20 per credit. With courses with significantly high teaching costs, the study fee is €45 per credit. The study fees for courses organised by partner institutions vary, and each partner institution is responsible for its own pricing.
